Mr. Froelich is a Video Producer and Director for Yakkety Yak Marketing, editing scripts, creating storyboards, managing on-set production, and filming commercials for non-profits and small businesses. He is a voice-over actor, including on campaigns for the American Migraine Foundation.

Mr. Huffman is a Data Economist working at Portland Cement Association (PCA) in Skokie, IL as a part of the Market Intelligence team. PCA is a trade organization representing the cement industry and has been around since 1916.

Ms. Keating is serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Costa Rica as a Teaching English as a Foreign Language volunteer. Hannah will be serving until fall of 2021.

Dr. Piscitelli has joined SEARCH, the largest archaeology company in the world, as Project Archaeologist and Digital Media Manager. He is responsible for marketing, strategic partnerships, social media, as well as management of archaeological projects throughout the U.S. SEARCH recently led a team that discovered Clotilda, the last ship to bring enslaved persons to the U.S.

Mr. Siadat won the prestigious national award, “2019 Award for Impact on the Teaching and Learning of Mathematics” from American Mathematical Society.
Lenora Segura (’15 BA, Communication, Minor, Latin American and Latino Studies) Heading link
Ms. Segura is a full-time Spanish teacher at Esmeralda Santiago Elementary School, an ACERO school in Chicago. She teaches kindergarten through 8th grade, and also teaches broadcasting to a mixed grade level class. She has been accepted into UIC’s Master of Arts in Teaching program.
After graduating from UIC, she attended Illinois Media School – Chicago campus to study Radio and Television Broadcasting, where she earned the Core Value of Integrity Award and had the Highest GPA in her program.
Dan Mangan (’18 BA, Latin American Studies) Heading link
Mr. Mangan is a member of the Chicago Police Department, working midnights in the 2nd District, which includes the Washington Park, Hyde Park, Kenwood, and Bronzeville neighborhoods. He served as the Class Commander of the 18-12C recruit class and won the Top Fit award.
Stephanie Schreiber (’16 Biology) Heading link
Ms. Schreiber is a second year medical student at Midwestern University. She spent a summer in Yaounde, Cameroon, assisting Dr. Georges Bwelle in general surgical procedures. His foundation ASCOVIME, along with Cameroonian physicians and medical students, travels to the villages outside the main city to provide healthcare to those people.
Karen Batshaw (’69 BA, Anthropology, MA, Social Work) Heading link
Ms. Batshaw developed an International Adoption Program in Cambodia, and her second historical novel about Greece in the 20th century, Light and Shadows, has been released. Karen is a world traveler, with a particular fondness for Greece and its people.

Ms. Borchew received Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in 2018 and accepted a post graduate position with the Miami-Dade County Public Defender’s Office. During law school, she interned at the Cook County Public Defender’s Homicide Task Force, and at the Mississippi Office of Capital Post-Conviction Counsel, working on appeals for indigent clients under the sentence of death.

Ms. Quach is a 3rd year medical student as a 6-year integrated resident at the University of Florida in Jacksonville. He will be obtaining an MD in 2021 and, after residency in 2023, will be applying for a Pediatric Cleft-Craniofacial Fellowship.

Ms. Chapman-Adisho is a professor of history at Salem State University in Salem, MA. My book, Patriot and Priest: Jean-Baptiste Volfius and the Constitutional Church in the Côte-d’Or was released by McGill-Queen’s University press in October.

Nestor Evaristo (’89 BA, Criminal Justice) Heading link
Mr. Evaristo is Project Coordinator for the AmeriCorps VISTA A Way Out program, which provides a pathway for those suffering from opioid dependency.
He has also served as a Surveillance Officer for the Lake County Adult Probation Department, a Peace Officer for the State of Nevada Department of Parole and Probation, and a Housing Coordinator for the Independent Living Program at Kaleidoscope, Inc. Mr. Evaristo also served with the U.S. Air Force Reserves from and retired with the rank of Master Sergeant in the Air Transportation carrier field.

Susan Kaplin (’82 BA, Psychology, Minor in Sociology, ‘84 MA, Social Work) Heading link
Ms. Kapin served as the Director of Research in the UK headquarters of a children’s drug prevention education charity. In addition, as the UK’s drug prevention research/evaluation expert, she consulted with Parliament/Members of Parliament, the Home Office, Scotland Yard, and the U.N. and others regarding effective, proven drug prevention education and research. She also had a peer-reviewed journal article published on
effective drug prevention education and its evaluation. That article published in 77 languages.
Kevin Majka (’14 BA, Sociology) Heading link
Mr. Majka received the Boy Scouts of America’s Silver Beaver Award by the Grand Canyon Council. It is given to Scouting leaders for longtime and impactful service to youth. Mr. Majka serves on various marketing and communications committees dealing with digital technology.

Mr. DeMarco served as an attorney with the armed forces, achieving the rank of Major with the Judge Advocate General’s office. He then served in private practice as a partner with DeMarco, Bernstein and Stimetz.
Meghna Bhat (’17 PhD, Criminology, Law, and Justice) Heading link
Ms. Bhat is an independent gender and social justice consultant, scholar, storytelling facilitator and prevention educator based in Sacramento, CA. She has conducted workshops at the Institute for Trauma Violence and Abuse and at the Nevada Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence State Conference. In addition, she has written for Ms. Magazine about the portrayals of feminism in Bollywood cinema and its implications on the #MeToo movement in India. She is a current board member at the National Girls and Women of Color Council, Inc. (NGWCC) and an alumnus of the National Women’s Studies Association Women of Color Project.
David Baker (’94 BA, English) Heading link
Mr. Baker is currently working at Oregon State University where he produces film and research video content and teach documentary film studies. His latest documentary, Saving Atlantis (Gravitas, 2019), is about the decline of the world’s coral reefs and the fight to save them. His film, Three Days of Glory (FilmBuff, 2018), explores a legendary Burgundian wine celebration during that region’s most difficult growing year on record. He’s also the author of the novel Vintage (Simon & Schuster, 2015).
Tom Ford (’05 BA, Spanish) Heading link
Mr. Ford is working as a Service Delivery Manager, supporting virtual coaching through an app called Ezra. In this role, the linguistic skills developed at UIC coupled with strong writing skills, enable him to work with different types of people from a variety of backgrounds.
