UIC jumps 16 spots in U.S. News and World Report annual rankings

UIC jumped to 129th this year from a 145th place finish last year, according to the annual U.S. News and World Report ranking that evaluates school on 16 measures of academic quality, including retention and graduation rates, as well as faculty.

“The University of Illinois at Chicago moved up in the rankings due to big improvements in graduation and retention rate—which includes social mobility—and graduation rate performance,” said the magazine’s chief data strategist Robert Morse in an emailed statement. “The university was one of the very top performers for the new social mobility indicators, which look at Pell Grant graduation rate and Pell Grant graduation rate compared to non-Pell Grant graduation rate.”
